I have however learned something of considerable value from this whole process. That writing a genuine hand written letter is not easy.

You have to have time to write. I never seem to have time to write a letter. Yes, I am in front of a computer all day long working on video and audio edits. I am working on websites. I am writing papers and notes for classes. I have a ton of opportunity to type out something, but to take a moment and write that letter. To separate from the monitor and tech and keyboard, well that requires more will then one would think. Think about it, the time spent is very different because when you are putting pen to paper it really does take more time to think about what you are writing then when you draft an email. Think about how often you write and sent something in email or IM/Text that took a second and looked like it could have been composed by your kindergarten self. Or worse you sent something out that was not all that bright, or clever and had instant regret.

You only have one shot to write a letter. You don’t get the same ability to be off the cuff, you tend to think about what you want to say, how you want to say it, and how you put your thoughts down. In a rush, It will show. Can’t think of what to say, then you may not have had something real deep to say. Paper full of crossed out or whiteout words, then you may need to practice living without spellcheck.

The whole point of what I am saying is take a moment, write that letter, be fully prepared to  use brains and muscles in a way that you would be surprised that you have forgotten.

In other news I finally sorted out all of my bookmarks that I have been saving and I should have some fresh opinions out soon. I am not entirely sure when. Again, busy with school.

Recorded the first few shows of Radiography last night. Now to edit and see what is keepable.

At this point I conclude that, yes, they got totally bombarded with correspondence. On this up side, Heller sent me a letter, in the mail, postage and all that paid. So, at least Auto-pen got a work out.

Thanks to my Environmental Sociology Class we watched this video, that I have linked to. We had a great system in place and it was ruined and NO ONE in power did anything to save it. I am super upset. So, watch the video, Taken for a Ride, and answer a couple of questions for me. First, does this piss you off as much as it does me? Secondly, how awesome would it be if light rail never left, imagine our cities.

Sometimes I get so frustrated at everything, I sorta wish I had superpowers to just fix everything. Wait, let me put that into context. I am taking an Environmental Socialism class this semester and between the books and films I am getting really bummed out. I wish I could wave a wand and fix all the social ills that humanity seems to be causing.

I get frustrated because everyone talks about how much harm things are causing the environment, yet I never get the feeling that there is anything we can do about it. There never seems to be a solution to the problems that are pointed out. The worst part is that their seems to be no money in finding a solution. The same goes with consumerism and how we are all puppets to some crazy marketing overlord.

First thing is first, for these to work you have to take action. You actually have to do something. This is far FAR easier said then done. You also have to not make the one mistake that I make all the time, you need to remember (as do I) that it’s the little things that count. Since I alone cannot solve everything, I should act local and hope that at least one thing catches on and takes off. So let’s focus on a problem and see what solutions can be found.
